故事大纲讲述 Sophie 与未婚夫 Victor 打算在婚前先度蜜月，便从纽约來到莎翁笔下罗密欧与朱丽叶故乡意大利维洛纳度假。任职于杂志社的 Sophie，梦想着晋升为记者，Victor 則是位意大利餐厅主厨，正准备自立门戶开家自己梦想中的餐厅。结果原本预计的婚前浪漫之旅，却因 Victor 一直忙着为自己餐厅寻找完美食材而冷落 Sophie。

某日，Sophie 只身前往维洛纳当地著名的茱丽叶故居探访，有很多來自世界各地的女人，都来到这里写信给朱丽叶传达失恋之苦与对爱情的渴望。她发现竟有一群自成为「茱丽叶秘书」的妇女志工，专门以茱丽叶的名义，一封封回复这些写给茱丽叶的信。

Sophie 无意中找到了一封 50 年前，由 Claire 写给茱丽叶的信，当年她在正值情竇初开的 15 岁少女時期，爱上了一位意大利青年，却因父母反对而无法相守。Sophie 深受这封信打动，決定亲自幫她回信。

结果令人意外的是，已当上祖母的 Claire，竟因 Sophie 的回信而回来维洛纳找寻她失散已久的爱人 Lorenzo。Claire 在孙子 Charlie 陪同下，帶著 Sophie 一起踏遍风媚的托斯卡尼地区，鼓起勇气去寻找这段曾经失之交臂的爱情。然而在陪伴 Claire 去寻觅真爱的过程中，Sophie 也法現自己正在为自己的人生，撰写另一个勇敢追爱的故事。
